Darkness blankets a high-fantasy realm where slimes, kobolds, zombies, vampires, and stranger threats crowd every route forward. XeGrader plus is a retro-minded action shooter that pairs quick monster-clearing combat with the slower satisfaction of untangling environmental mysteries. Its mood lands somewhere between an old-school arcade adventure and a cryptic dungeon expedition: colorful on the surface, but full of locked-away machinery, ominous ruins, and secrets that demand attention. Choosing either a male or female warrior, players set out to restore order to a world whose history has been deliberately buried.

Moment-to-moment play revolves around shooting through hostile stages while watching for suspicious walls, concealed passages, mechanisms, and clues in the scenery. Brute force alone does not carry the adventure; progress often comes from testing ideas, reading level layouts carefully, and returning to places that initially seem like dead ends. Hidden upgrades and optional discoveries give exploration real weight, rewarding players who treat every screen as a potential puzzle rather than simply a combat arena.

The controls and interface are also designed with handheld play in mind, including touch support for players who want a portable-friendly approach. Two alternate retro editions are included as well: an MSX2-style version with period-appropriate color and sound, plus a stripped-back PC-8001mkII adaptation that embraces four-color visuals and simple beeps.
