Game Overview

A revolver in one hand and improvised occult power in the other give this first-person horror adventure a stronger identity than a standard haunted-house crawl. Set among the forests, deserted settlements, and half-remembered customs of Kashubia, Eyes Of The ElderWood treats regional folklore as a living threat rather than background decoration. Its demons are rooted in local legends, turning superstition into something physical, hostile, and often difficult to understand. The mood is oppressive and uncanny, with an intentionally dated audiovisual presentation that recalls the rough-edged PC horror of the early 2000s.

Investigation drives much of the experience as you search isolated homes, woodland paths, and increasingly warped spaces for clues, routes forward, and ways to survive what stalks them. Magic is cast by drawing symbols manually, making spells useful beyond combat: they expose concealed details, affect objects in the environment, and create openings against supernatural enemies. The revolver offers a more immediate answer when danger closes in, but ammunition and bullets alone are not a universal solution. Different creatures respond to different tactics, so encounters often demand observation, experimentation, or avoidance instead of simply emptying the cylinder. A sanity mechanic adds pressure by altering sights, sounds, and your grasp on what is actually happening, with severe mental deterioration leading to more disturbing sequences.

What separates Eyes Of The ElderWood from familiar folklore horror is its specific cultural focus and its refusal to make every monster a conventional target. Each area appears to bring its own threats and rules, while the world gradually shifts from recognizably rural locations into surreal territory where navigation and perception become unreliable. Vertex-lit environments and deliberately degraded, compressed-sounding audio support the retro aesthetic without reducing the game to nostalgia alone; the presentation makes the unease feel tactile and strange. Players who enjoy the exploratory tension of early survival horror, the spell interaction of occult adventures, and enemy design that rewards learning behavior should find plenty to like, especially if they want horror mythology beyond the usual Western staples.
