A dying green sun turns survival into a race toward the edge of civilization, where colossal ark-ships carry the remnants of humanity away from a poisoned center. Exark is a science-fiction management strategy game built around guiding one of these mobile settlements through a strange, unstable world ruled by a faltering Celestial Bureaucracy. Its tone is less about individual heroics than hard decisions: every expansion promises greater output, yet every poorly supplied district can slow the entire voyage toward safety.

Players arrange buildings across an ever-growing ark, balancing food, production, inspiration, and gold to keep the engine of society moving. Food sustains infrastructure and improves production cycles, while industrial capacity opens up further construction; inspiration brings specialized crew aboard, giving key buildings valuable bonuses. Time runs in real time but can be paused or accelerated, making Exark approachable for careful planners while still allowing brisk sessions once a system is running smoothly. Travel also means encountering biomes and settlements beyond the ark, with peaceful trade and production-focused paths available alongside more aggressive solutions for dealing with opposition.

The four Great Houses provide the game’s strongest source of variety, since each begins with a different vessel, personnel pool, strengths, and logistical problems. House Arioch leans on skilled builders and a prestigious flagship, whereas House Mnesis starts with access to plentiful materials aboard its immense ark; succeeding means adapting to what each faction lacks as much as exploiting what it has. More than 100 buildings and crew combinations encourage experimentation, while alternate victory routes keep a single optimal strategy from dominating every run.
