The premise is as ridiculous as it sounds: you play as Pickle Pete, a grizzled pickle with a firearm, dropped into a world being consumed by darkness. The tone is cartoonish, but don’t let that fool you — the action is legitimately hectic. Swarms of enemies close in from all sides, projectiles fill the screen, and you’re constantly moving, dodging, and firing. It’s a bullet-heaven in the vein of Vampire Survivors or Brotato, but with a heavier emphasis on manual dodging and boss patterns.
I was initially skeptical about the “surprisingly demanding” label, but after my first few runs, I got it. You can’t just stand in a corner and let your weapons auto-fire. You need to actively weave through enemy formations, time your dodge rolls, and make snap decisions about which upgrades to grab. It’s more hands-on than many passive survivor games, and that’s a good thing.
