The ruined-city apocalypse is deliberately pulpy, with flamethrowers, rocket launchers, and katanas creating a loud arcade spectacle. It's cathartic, accessible, and perfect for short sessions that inevitably turn into "one more run."

I appreciated how the game strips the survivor-shooter formula to its essentials. Characters auto-attack nearby threats, so your focus stays on movement and tactical decisions. Each run revolves around collecting experience, selecting perks, recruiting specialists, and choosing whether to spread upgrades across your team or create an overpowered centerpiece. Squad members bring distinct weapons and roles—a melee fighter can hold a crowd in place while ranged mercenaries burn, blast, or gun down everything behind them.

What sets this apart from many Vampire Survivors-style games is the squad-management angle. Instead of just stacking passive effects on one hero, you shape a small unit with complementary gear, evolutions, and ultimates. The simple controls make it welcoming for newcomers, but the upgrade combinations, respec-friendly meta progression, higher virus-strength modifiers, and prestige system give veterans reasons to keep optimizing.

Visually, the game favors readable top-down action over elaborate detail—which matters when the screen is packed with zombies and explosions. I never lost track of my character, even in the most chaotic moments.
