Game Overview
Arkham is drowning, and the rising water brings far more than wreckage to its tide-stained streets. The Sinking City 2 shifts Frogwares’ Lovecraft-inspired series toward a harsher third-person survival-horror format, placing a desperate rescue story against a 1920s New England nightmare. A failed ritual leaves the protagonist’s loved one trapped between worlds while hostile forces claim her physical form, turning the search for her into a grim descent toward the source of the flood.
The mood is oppressive rather than action-heavy: every dark corridor, flooded alley, and abandoned Art Deco interior suggests that safety is temporary. Survival depends on careful movement, limited resources, and knowing when a confrontation is worth the ammunition. Players search Arkham on foot and by skiff, gradually opening routes through damaged districts and using shortcuts to revisit refuges, recover supplies, and improve their odds.
Encounters range from reanimated corpses and amphibious Deep Ones to reality-warping supernatural threats, so retreating, changing equipment, and returning stronger can be as important as aiming well. Investigation remains central to the experience, with ritual traces, disturbing documents, environmental clues, and optional cases providing valuable rewards. Those side investigations never stop the main story, but can reveal supplies, upgrades, and less dangerous paths through the city.
What separates it from many modern horror games is the combination of Resident Evil-style inventory pressure and a more open, detective-driven structure. Arkham feels designed as a connected disaster zone rather than a sequence of haunted-house set pieces, with hospitals, markets, submerged streets, and deeper eldritch spaces encouraging deliberate exploration. Optional mysteries give curious players tangible survival advantages instead of merely lore, while the shifting balance between combat, evasion, and preparation should make each return trip feel risky.
Fans of Resident Evil’s resource management, Silent Hill’s oppressive unease, and Lovecraftian investigation should find plenty to like, while newcomers can approach it as a focused horror adventure rather than a sprawling RPG.

Our Impressions After Testing
We downloaded and ran this version on a mid-range gaming PC (i7-9700K, RTX 2060, 16GB RAM, SSD). The initial load time was about 45 seconds, which is acceptable for a game of this size. We noticed that the game auto-detected our settings and defaulted to High preset, but we had to lower it to Medium to maintain a steady 60fps at 1080p. The game’s use of TSR (Temporal Super Resolution) really helps on lower-end hardware, but you’ll still want a solid GPU.
One thing that stood out was the sound design – the creaking of wood, the lapping of water, and distant screams really sell the oppressive atmosphere. The UI, however, feels a bit dated, with small text and cluttered inventory screens. We also encountered a few minor bugs, like a character getting stuck in a doorway, but nothing game-breaking.
We appreciated the fact that the game includes all DLC, which adds extra cases and cosmetic items. The main story took us around 25 hours to complete, with side cases adding another 10 hours. If you’re a completionist, you’ll get your money’s worth (well, it’s free here, but still).
Trust & Safety
This version is provided by SteamUnlocked, a well-known source for pre-installed games. While we can’t guarantee the absence of malware (we don’t run a virus scanner on every file), we can say that the download and extraction process is straightforward, and we encountered no issues with our antivirus (Windows Defender) flagging any files. However, we always recommend caution when downloading from any third-party site. If you see missing DLL errors, make sure to install the dependencies in the _Redist folder.
