Shift Happens

Two gelatinous lab accidents turn a familiar puzzle-platforming setup into a cheerful test of coordination and betrayal. Bismo and Plom are linked by a strange experiment, letting them trade body mass whenever the situation demands it: one becomes huge, sturdy, and heavy while the other shrinks into a nimble little blob. Their escape runs through malfunctioning research facilities, dense forests, wind-lashed canyon paths, and freezing caverns packed with traps. The tone stays colorful and comic, but the obstacle courses can be surprisingly demanding when a mistimed jump sends both partners into a pit.

Each level asks two players to combine contrasting sizes and skills to reach the exit. The larger character activates pressure plates, survives hazards, moves heavy objects, and creates a physical platform, while the smaller one slips through narrow passages, reaches high ledges, and handles precise jumps. Switches, moving platforms, falling blocks, lasers, spikes, and environmental dangers constantly force communication, often requiring one player to make a risky sacrifice so the other can advance. Local and online co-op sit at the heart of the experience, although solo players can also control both blobs and solve the same challenges as a multitasking exercise.

Its best idea is that changing size affects more than movement; it reshapes how both players read every room and negotiate responsibility. Levels reward patience and teamwork, yet the playful physics and frequent opportunities to accidentally—or deliberately—ruin a partner’s attempt keep failures amusing rather than frustrating. The clean cartoon presentation makes hazards easy to read, while the four themed worlds give the campaign a steady sense of escalation. Fans of cooperative platformers such as Portal 2, ibb & obb, or the more puzzle-focused sections of Rayman will find a smart couch co-op adventure here, especially if they enjoy solving problems with a friend who may not always have their best interests in mind.
