At night, the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad ventures into Tartarus, a massive procedurally structured dungeon packed with Shadows, treasure, optional rescues, and increasingly demanding bosses. Turn-based battles reward exploiting elemental weaknesses to knock enemies down, then unleashing devastating All-Out Attacks; Persona fusion lets the protagonist combine captured beings into new builds with inherited skills. Modern additions such as direct party control, streamlined dungeon travel, the Shift follow-up system, and battle assists make the classic structure far smoother, although Tartarus can still feel repetitive during long climbs.

Reload stands apart through its remarkable audiovisual overhaul: character models are expressive, menus snap with personality, and rearranged music gives familiar tracks fresh force without losing their melancholy. New conversations and side activities deepen the central cast, while the calendar structure makes every decision about free time feel meaningful, even when players are simply sharing food or watching a film. Its focused narrative and single large dungeon make it less sprawling than Persona 5 Royal, but its pacing and themes often hit harder.
