Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy is a first-person, turn-based dungeon crawler built around tense expeditions into hostile labyrinths, where every corridor can hide monsters, traps, or precious equipment. Its anime presentation and military-academy framing give the adventure a distinct flavor, but the mood is more methodical than flashy: survival depends on planning a capable squad and knowing when to retreat. As a direct continuation of Operation Abyss, it carries forward its strange sci-fi mysteries while raising the stakes for the Xth Squad.

Players assemble a party, assign Blood Codes that function as character classes, and map dangerous grid-based dungeons from a first-person perspective. Combat is turn-based and party-focused, asking you to manage physical attacks, elemental magic, healing, status effects, and enemy weaknesses rather than relying on reflexes. The major addition is Sub-Blood, which lets characters equip a secondary Blood Code and blend class traits into hybrids, opening up combinations such as sturdier spellcasters or fighters with broader support options. The labyrinths lean into old-school dungeon-crawling discipline, with resource pressure, punishing ambushes, and the occasional need to abandon a run before a promising expedition becomes a wipe. Its visual-novel story scenes and stylized character art will appeal to fans of anime RPGs, while the actual dungeon design lands closer to Demon Gaze, Stranger of Sword City, and classic Wizardry than a typical Japanese role-playing game.
