Sieges add another layer of strategy through ladders, rams, towers, catapults, and defensive artillery, while the simulated economy makes trade routes, shortages, and wartime disruption meaningful.

Few RPGs match the sensation of personally swinging a sword in a battle you also planned from the world map. Bannerlord balances accessible combat controls with a demanding skill ceiling, especially when positioning infantry, archers, and cavalry becomes as important as personal dueling ability. Its sprawling campaign can be rough around the edges and asks players to create their own goals, but that openness is exactly the point.
