MENACE

The premise is straightforward: you command the strike cruiser TCRN Impetus and answer crises across hostile worlds. What sets MENACE apart from a typical XCOM-style campaign is the constant operational pressure. Each deployment is a calculated gamble, and the game never lets you forget it. The tone is tense and military-minded, with no clean heroic victories—only hard choices and their consequences.

Combat is turn-based, built around positioning, cover, suppression, line of sight, and flanking. You assemble forces from infantry squads, armored vehicles, tanks, and walkers, then tailor their loadouts to the mission's terrain and expected opposition. Weather, biome conditions, limited supplies, and wounded units complicate even routine missions, forcing you to decide whether veterans fight hurt or sit out to recover.

Between battles, promotions and experience shape your squad leaders. Salvaged gear, black-market purchases, and faction connections give you tools to keep pace with escalating threats. The branching objectives—saving civilians, destroying defenses, or cultivating informants—change later opportunities, making every choice matter. Procedurally assembled maps and missions keep the campaign from becoming a memorized sequence, and the large equipment pool encourages experimentation.
