Eternal Palace Sakura (v1.0.1) » SteamUnlocked

Retla’s climb through a seemingly endless tower turns a compact anime-fantasy premise into a demanding 3D action roguelite. Stranded inside the Eternal Palace Sakura after pursuing rumors of a sky-piercing structure in the Far East, the cat-eared heroine must fight her way through a dreamlike prison that refuses to stay still. Its tone sits somewhere between colorful heroic adventure and mounting dungeon-crawl pressure: charming character design and bright effects mask a labyrinth built to punish careless runs. The appeal is immediate for players who enjoy learning a hostile space through repeated attempts rather than expecting a single scripted campaign.

Combat centers on Retla’s dual-wielded weapons, with quick strikes, combo strings, evasive movement, and enemy encounters that reward timing over button-mashing. Each expedition sends her through procedurally assembled corridors containing traps, loot, branching routes, secrets, and increasingly dangerous opponents, so knowing when to press forward matters as much as winning individual fights. Permanent roguelite progression lets players unlock weapons, abilities, and upgrades between attempts, gradually broadening the viable approaches to the tower. The Mugen Depth system sharpens the risk-reward loop: descending farther introduces harsher debuffs and stronger enemies, but also makes rare rewards and deeper challenges worth chasing.

Rather than relying solely on randomized rooms, the palace uses its changing layout to make exploration feel uncertain; a successful route in one run may be useless in the next. Bosses and deeper endgame floors give experienced players a clear long-term target beyond simply surviving another trip, while the escalating modifiers encourage experimentation with builds and combat habits. Its anime presentation, nimble heroine, and close-range action make it a natural fit for players who like the repeatable progression of Hades or the tense dungeon delving of action roguelites, though the focus here is more firmly on navigating a 3D maze. Newcomers can enjoy the steady sense of growth, while genre veterans are likely to get the most from mastering dodges, route choices, and the risks of pushing Mugen Depth ever higher.
