A stranded office-worker clone wakes inside a hostile facility with no explanation beyond one absurdly useful talent: making more of himself. Divider Dave turns that premise into a compact, slapstick puzzle-platformer where death is rarely the end of a run and often the intended solution. Lasers, crushers, surveillance fields, locked doors, and stranger machinery fill a maze that feels equal parts sci-fi laboratory and cartoon deathtrap. Beneath the jokes, an unsettling mystery builds around shadowy observers, oddly familiar box-shaped figures, and a suited man waiting somewhere above.

Progress depends on creating Daves, switching control between them, and treating each duplicate as a movable piece of the puzzle. One clone can hold a switch while another crosses a gap, while a stack of bodies becomes a makeshift staircase and a poorly timed launch sends a double into a hazard for the greater good. The Davebox beam adds another twist by converting clones into pushable crates, opening up weight puzzles and new ways to block dangers or reach elevated paths. Portals, tractor beams, detectors, and environmental traps steadily complicate the formula across more than 50 hand-built challenges in the Lab, Vents, Warehouse, and Office.

Its strongest idea is how naturally the cloning mechanic supports both clever spatial puzzles and physical comedy; every squash, zap, and accidental sacrifice is part of the point rather than a punishment. Expressive pixel animation gives the facility a lively cartoon character, while the story’s increasingly suspicious background details keep the journey from feeling like a disconnected puzzle collection. Divider Dave is short enough for a single focused evening, but its rooms demand satisfying bursts of experimentation instead of reflex-heavy platforming skill. Fans of games such as The Swapper, The Talos Principle, or the more comedic puzzle stages in Portal should find plenty to enjoy, especially if they prefer inventive mechanics over sprawling length.
