Clockwork Ambrosia

Clockwork Ambrosia drops you onto a retro-futurist steampunk island as Iris, a capable explorer. The world is full of sealed passages, mechanical threats, and hidden upgrades, giving it the satisfying structure of a classic metroidvania. What sets it apart is its arsenal system, which pushes combat far beyond simple gun swapping. Iris carries four fundamentally different firearms: the adaptable Pulse Breaker, a heavy missile weapon for armored targets, a quick revolver, and a grenade launcher built around indirect shots and trick angles.

Combat centers on finding modifications and combining them into builds that change weapon behavior, creating unusual interactions instead of merely raising damage numbers. With more than 100 mods, expanding weapon-slot upgrades, armor choices, and healing enhancements, you can shape a precise loadout for boss encounters or exploration, then save and swap setups as needed. In my experience, the buildcraft depth is what kept me hooked—experimenting with different mod combos to find synergies was genuinely rewarding.

The game rewards curiosity and experimentation. Wall jumps, ceiling traversal, and other mobility skills gradually turn the island into a more open playground. Map pins, warp points, and Borersville’s shops help manage the hunt for secrets. Missed drops aren't permanently lost—scrap earned in the field can be spent at the hub to buy overlooked items and fresh modifications, although limited extra lives still give defeat some consequence. A first run lasts roughly 15 to 20 hours, with plenty of optional paths, allies, and equipment discoveries.
