Born Punk

A space elevator turns the Danish island of Bornholm into a glittering corporate powerhouse, but the neon skyline hides a stranger threat than boardroom politics. Born Punk is a story-heavy cyberpunk adventure following Eevi, an ex-combat hacker tending bar, Mariposa, a formidable executive, and Grandmaster Flashdrive, an android whose systems are far from stable. Each becomes host to an unknowable presence, forcing three people from radically different corners of society to investigate a mystery with implications far beyond their island city. The mood balances conspiracy, transhuman anxiety, and sharp comedy rather than playing its futuristic setting as unrelentingly bleak.

Gameplay follows the traditional point-and-click format: players inspect detailed screens, collect and combine items, interrogate locals, and untangle puzzles rooted in the setting’s technology and social divisions. Control shifts among the three protagonists, giving conversations and problems different angles depending on who takes the lead. Dialogue choices matter, influencing relationships, immediate exchanges, and the ways certain obstacles can be handled, while an in-game PDA keeps optional lore and useful contextual information close at hand. It is a deliberate, narrative-led experience built around observation and deduction instead of reflex-heavy action, making it accessible to adventure newcomers while still rewarding players who exhaust every conversation and background detail.

Hand-drawn pixel art gives Bornholm personality without reducing it to retro nostalgia; locations feel busy, animated, and full of small visual jokes, machinery, and everyday life. Full voice acting extends even to minor roles and a cat, helping the cast sell both heartfelt scenes and absurd detours, while the synth-driven score adds a distinctly Nordic edge to the cyberpunk atmosphere. Its strongest feature is the contrast between intimate character problems and a grand science-fiction mystery, recalling the wit of Monkey Island and the dystopian intrigue of Beneath a Steel Sky without simply copying either. Fans of dialogue-rich adventures, branching puzzle solutions, and thoughtful cyberpunk worlds should find plenty to like, especially if they prefer a clever slow burn over combat-focused sci-fi.
