Anima Flux casts two enhanced agents of an authoritarian religious regime against a coordinated mutant assault that threatens to erase the last human settlement. The mood is oppressive but not humorless, balancing cosmic horror, political cruelty, and pointed dialogue with the momentum of a fast-moving 2D metroidvania. Its hand-drawn presentation leans into old-school sci-fi animation, with stark machinery, alien flesh, and a deliberately retro futuristic palette.

Combat revolves around managing two distinct soldiers whose weapons, movement options, and special skills complement one another.
